POH Performance LLC's mission is to build apps that improve General Aviation safety. The apps are free to encourage widespread use. We publish the apps to encourage volunteers to add aircraft types and models and to let users inspect the code and data for errors.
Our apps are designed by pilots for pilots. Our goal is to create a modern, detailed performance planning and cockpit reference app, taking full advantage of electronic media, unconstrained by the pre-computer-era format of paper manuals.

The source code for POH Performance apps is published on Sourceforge. Volunteers do all the work. Transcribing aircraft data, adding new aircraft types and models, as well as maintaining the apps, requires a significant effort. If you are interested in contributing time to make aviation safer, please contact us at info@pohperformance.com.
As mentioned above, the primary goal of publishing the source code is to make it easy for volunteers to help and to allow external inspection for errors. However, we occasionally receive requests for new apps or modifications that we cannot accommodate with the available resources. In some cases, a developer may want to create an app using the POH Performance LLC source code. The legal term for this is "derived work". All derived works require a license from us. Since the mission is aviation safety, we don't charge a licensing fee for non-commercial use.
The license will contain several conditions and restrictions, but here are some major points you should consider: All licensees must indemnify POH Performance LLC and its contributors against all claims arising from the use of your modified app. POH Performance LLC and its contributors cannot be held liable for modifications they haven't vetted. In addition, if you want to publish or distribute your modified app for non-commercial use only, you must agree to make the app's marketing materials, icons, splash screens, and other external identifying graphics distinct from POH Performance apps so users are not confused about the app's source. You must also use your own backend server.
